We recently hosted our first “Creatives & Conversations” event at the Spiracle Studio at Wray Ward, bringing together a fantastic lineup of creatives from across Charlotte’s production community. This inaugural event was a chance to step back from the daily grind, explore the purpose behind our work, and reflect on what it means to create with intention.
Our panel discussion, “The State of Production in the Charlotte Region: Challenges & Opportunities,” was the centerpiece of the night, moderated by Spiracle’s own Executive Producer, Natalie Ridley. Leaders in the creative industry shared their perspectives on the future of production in our city. Panelists Kevin Gjetley, Hunter Buchanan, and Jakub Blank opened up about emerging trends, the evolving needs in creative work, and the power of collaboration within our local industry.
One moment that struck a chord was when DP Hunter Buchanan shared his motivation behind his work:
“My reason for going into the film industry wasn’t about fame. I see needs in the world, and I think I’m pretty good with a camera. If I can use my skills to meet those needs, I’m happy.”
It’s a sentiment that resonates deeply with all of us who believe that the best projects aren’t just about the end result but about the impact we leave behind.
As Charlotte’s creative scene continues to expand, so does the potential for meaningful collaboration and groundbreaking work, and we at Spiracle hope to play an important role in bringing people together. By creating spaces like “Creatives & Conversations,” we’re committed to fostering a community where creatives can come together, share ideas, and build relationships that push our industry forward.
By connecting our purpose and passion for content, we’re hopeful that we can help shape a the future for the creative industry in Charlotte—one where each of us plays a vital role in telling stories that matter.
